Romatic Farm Wedding :: Matt & Betsy

In September, I (Amelia) had the opportunity to be spontaneous and travel to PA to shoot Matt & Betsy’s romantic farm wedding on Betsy’s family’s farmland. Several family members, including Krystal & Kyle (who is Betsy’s cousin) were married at the farm. The couple wanted the celebration to be very personal. Some of those details and activities included: pottery made by Matt, the bouquet made by Betsy, the reception entry on a refurbished two-seater bike owned by a grandparent, the bride & groom serving home-made desserts with ice cream, wine stomping by the bride & groom & guests (at the reception) and leisure yard games to allow people to relax and connect. Do You Think I’m Beautiful? :: Thoughts, Musings & Quiet Time

I sat down this morning to enjoy some quiet time. This is the time just after I put Keagan down for his morning nap and Keira is watching Sesame Street, and I can actually take a moment to eat breakfast, grab a cup of coffee and just breathe for two minutes. Sadly, my quiet time hasn’t been what I’ve longed for in quite some time. I have this perfect vision of waking up, enjoying time with my Bible and some encouraging words to start the day – well, it seems to never happen that way. Life takes over, I move on with my day – allowing things to happen and hoping I will survive another day of Keira drawing on the walls and Keagan’s dirty diapers. And somewhere in all of this, I attempt to accomplish something on my always growing to-do list.

This morning, I sat down for my quiet time and made an active decision to read. I wasn’t going to read just anything. I wanted to read something with a purpose. Something that would make me think, empower me in someway spiritually, personally and encourage me as I start my day. I had no idea the pure, raw emotion I was about to experience.

My Little Munchkins!

It’s been so long since I’ve really had the chance to enjoy time taking images of my own family and memories. Keagan is five months old now, and I’ve only recently begun being able to catch his smiles. And he is really changing fast. So, is his sister.

Lesli & John :: Home Sweet Home :: Nashville Wedding Photography

Lesli and John had an amazing wedding at the home of Lesli’s parents home just outside the Nashville area. The day began with questions about whether they would have an outdoor ceremony, but the clouds did break and give them just enough time for a beautiful ceremony – and there were even some moments of sunshine!

Kate & Matt :: Green and Beautiful :: Nashville Wedding Photography

I feel like it’s been years since I posted a wedding feature to the blog. It feels good to be sharing more photos with you since all in my life has been chaos the last few months. I do promise, a personal post will be coming soon. In the meantime, Kate & Matt are up and I am excited to tell you about their day! Amelia and I shot their gorgeous September wedding and it was sooo much fun!

Kate & Matt had a beautiful wedding at Historic Cedarwood. The day was cloudy, but you wouldn’t notice it with the love of friends and family and the amazing details that graced the grounds of Cedarwood. Kate & Matt also made every effort to have a green wedding. From recycled paper and organically grown herbs, flowers and gorgeous arrangements with eggplant and grapes. There were recycling bins located all over Cedarwood to encourage guests to reuse their bottles and paper items. I’m telling you….the staff at Cedarwood made certain the details were spot on!

The laughter of the girls was contagious. They are Kate’s closest friends and family. Kate was so laid back and nothing seemed to stress her as she prepared to see Matt for the first time.

Before the ceremony, Kate & Matt had their first look. She was barefoot, jumped the creek and waded through the woods without a care for whether her dress would show dirt or water. We WERE careful, but she and Matt were sooo much fun to have a picture adventure with!

It’s a blessing to have this many friends who love you….

Kate really loved the antique red truck at Cedarwood. It was one of her favorite things about the property (and mine too!)

I absolutely loved the set-up of the cake cutting for this wedding. The cake was seated on a piece of tree trunk and it was a great way to keep everything feeling really organic without losing any beauty of the design. God really is the best designer and gives us everything we need without having to make it pretty ourselves.

Kate and Matt, is was a joy serving you and your families. You are a beautiful couple and I wish you many years of happiness and God’s blessings on your life! Enjoy your slideshow – with music provided by Julianna Zobrist!

Matilda Jane Contest :: Nashville Children’s Portrait Photography

Last year I (Amelia) was introduced to the cutest clothing line: Matilda Jane Clothing. I fell in love! The clothes are creative, colorful, comfortable and unlike anything I’d ever seen. The good and bad thing is that it’s mainly girls’ clothing… bad, because I have two boys; good, because if I had girls, I’d want to buy everything! Well, I did indulge and bought a few pieces for my nieces, photography “props” and myself. My friend, Mary Virginia, was a trunk keeper for awhile so she kept me up on the newest pieces of the seasons; then this fall she informed me that Matilda Jane was hosting a photography contest. After submitting an application, I was selected as a finalist in their Photo Love Contest. I was sent a dress to shoot and then had to submit ONE photo for the actual contest. SO – after my four-year-old son tried it on for me (HA!), Kayla, Mary Virginia, Kerri and I rounded up some girls, props, accessories and photo gear and set out to capture “THE” photo for the contest.

The shoots were so fun! The girls are all beautiful, fun and spunky. Thank you girls (and moms)! Choosing ONE photo was sooo difficult. I’m used to shooting portraits or lifestyle images – so I’m either capturing a face or an action. For this “assignment” I had to feature the item of clothing … AND the girl… AND tell a story. So that was the difficult part. In the end, I choose the first one below. I like the composition, the dress and the personality of the shot. But these others are my favorites too!

So now Matilda Jane is running the Photo Love Contest through Sunday, Dec 6 and I need your vote!

Matthew Edwards :: Senior Portraits

Here are some shots from Matthew Edwards Senior Portraits. We found lots of great textures and lighting around the buildings at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm: hay, old walls, stalls, tires and an old herb garden. The textures complimented Matthew’s personality: casual, creative, and personable. The lighting at the end of the day was perfect and we enjoyed trying to get the beams in the shots. And thank you to Kayla and Kerri – as always, I (Amelia) enjoy the collaborative creative adventure of climbing, scouting, shooting and laughing together. Thank you to Matthew & Janet (his mom) for a spending a fun afternoon with us!

The Newells :: Nashville Family Photography

Oh, the joys of mini-sessions! So much cuteness in too little time! I absolutely love them! The Newells were great fun – although Little Ava wasn’t as excited about having her picture taken as mom and dad were. So, she cried some, but she was a trooper! And, mom told me later that she wasn’t feeling well that day. Poor thing – she did fabulous for not feeling well!

Meet the Parks Family :: Nashville Family Photography

I had a fun time with the Parks family a few weeks ago during our first round of mini-sessions. Can I just say the are super cute? I am really enjoying my time shooting families this year and I couldn’t be happier that this family started off my family season.
